Tethering Draining My iPhone 3G

Since upgrading to my iPhone 3G to iOS 4.x,  battery drains when tethered to my laptop by Bluetooth, rather than charging.

• Bluetooth tethering
• iPhone connected to laptop via USB cable
• Laptop plugged into A.C.

I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this? It never happened for me under iPhone OS 3.0.
