FireFox 3.5 - It is Fast!
Written by on Jun 30, 2009
I normally don't promote Firefox to my Mac-loving friends because Safari has always been a better browser for me and more Mac-like, but the latest Firefox 3.5, just released today, is a nice leap forward. It is very fast at rendering and has an even more polished user interface that better fits in with Mac OS X. The only qualm I continue to have is that a single click in the Location bar still selects all of the text; not how text fields normally work on a Mac. A second click is required to get the insertion bar, and this small, but significant usability difference continues to trip me up when I use the browser. That said, 3.5 is a really good upgrade. Each browser has its strengths, and Safari will still be my first choice, but Firefox has made honourable progress on platform integration. Now to see Camino upgraded with the same rendering engine. Then we'll have the best of both worlds.
